I'm so happy you're here.

I'm the founder of Queer Cobija, and like so many of us, I've spent years searching for spaces where I could simply show up as myself.

As a queer, non-binary, Latinx person, I know what it feels like to crave community, to want more than small talk, more than another night out, more than a room full of people who never become friends. I wanted spaces where people could slow down, feel safe, laugh freely, and leave knowing someone a little better than when they arrived.

That's where Queer Cobija began.

The word cobija means "blanket" in Spanish. To me, a cobija has always represented warmth, comfort, and home. It's something that wraps around you, makes you feel safe, and reminds you that you're cared for. My hope is that Queer Cobija can offer that same feeling to every person under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. A place where you can arrive exactly as you are and know you belong.

For more than six years, I've planned and produced events designed to bring people together. Along the way, I realized my favorite part was never the logistics or the timeline, it was watching strangers become friends, seeing conversations spark, and witnessing people find the kind of connection they didn't even know they were looking for.

That feeling is what I want to create, over and over again.

Queer Cobija isn't about building the biggest events. It's about building meaningful ones. Whether we're gathering over a sunset, supporting local businesses, taking a class, volunteering together, or celebrating queer joy, every experience is created with intention, care, and community at its heart.
